Humphrey Court, situated in Ince, Wigan, has undergone a remarkable transformation, evolving from its original purpose as a workshop into a stylish HMO.
Although planning permission was submitted and granted in 2016, the project didn't commence until December 2020. Efficient work on-site seen the project completed in August 2021 and by Q3 of that year, Humphrey Court emerged as a new, modern living space. Now fully tenanted, it continues to cater to the immediate community as affordable, local housing.
Spanning 3000 square feet over two floors, the building offers contemporary living. Each room boasts laminate flooring, stylish wall décor, cosy rugs, bedside tables, drawers, new beds and more.
The ensuites' feature modern layouts, too - including bath/shower combinations, basins with cabinet storage, and modern toilets, reinforcing a modern aesthetic.
With its roots dating back to the 1970's as a workshop, Humphrey Court has seen its fair share of transformations, including extensions and alterations.
From its industrial origins to its recent conversion into an HMO, the building now stands as a testament in repurposing historic walls.
Onto the kitchen, it offers a vibrant space designed to foster connection and interaction. Residents gather here communally and it is now believed to be used not only for dining but also as a social aspect.
Despite the long journey from workshop to modern living space, Humphrey Court's transformation reflects DBR's dedication to recycling and retaining historic structures within communities. By repurposing 2 Humphrey Street, the project has revitalized the neighbourhood, with other businesses following suit, by delving into their own developments in the immediate area, including gyms, stores and more. All this while addressing the demand for affordable and contemporary housing solutions. With its blend of comfort, functionality, and style, Humphrey Court embodies the potential of thoughtful design and innovation in much needed development. More Photos
